Yishu Update!! 26th October 2011
Apparently the small 6” figure’s where not meant to be lol, although I had great fun creating them, they were just too small for me and they were giving me a bit of a headache. Also I am really struggling on the realistic side, it’s been a couple of months now and I haven’t produced anything decent, and I certainly wouldn’t sell them with all the flaws. Although this is what art and the world of OOAKing is all about learning, developing and moving on from your mistakes. Which I certainly have had a few all though I am getting better at heads & hands, instead of struggling to save it and spending hours in the process I squish it and move on. I have learned a lot through this couple of months experimenting. And I am hoping to have something decent and worth posting for Halloween which is not that far away unfortunately I very much doubt it will be anywhere near finished but at least it would have progressed!! I am sorry to keep going on about it and it can be very frustrating where you spend days and have nothing to show for it other than a ball of clay which has been squished 1000’s of times. My next adventure is going back to my roots and what I love cartoons!!! But unlike Elena the Enchanted princess I am going to have a little more proportion in the next one. Although stating true to a cartoon nature. Wish me luck I’ll keep you posted. Thank you for stopping by!!

Yishu Update!! - 12 September 2011
Not the most productive weekend i have had tried to get some clarification on what i would like to sculpt from now on and it didn't matter what i did i kept getting drawn to the 16" cartoon pieces again although i wanted to create more realistic ones. I have tried making smaller pieces and trying different clay all so far not successful and are sitting in a box under my desk.
Although this sunday i got out a 16" head and body that was in the mystery box under my bed and have decided to start work on it again, Just going with the flow this time......
So far she has been sanded and covered in TLS and baked. when i started to paint her features she ended up as a goth, so i am just going with it LOL. Decided not to argue:)
On the bright side i have caught up with a programme called the Middle and Started to watch Downton Abbey which is Brilliant really getting into it the push is on because the new series starts soon!!!!!!
I hope you all had wonderful weekends?!!

Yishu Update 25 August 2011!!
Zoooomm, that is what this weekend has felt like, unfortunately I wasn’t very creative in the clay sense, there was a lot of good films on and I found my self sitting there watching them and before I knew it Sunday night had appeared and I was getting ready for work, but Monday I was dedicated after a lot of scoring, cutting, blending, moving I had a rough form of a women, I also did the same to the hands!
I think the reason for not doing much was I spent a long time on the head and body for this piece but failed to measure up NEVER good, my advice to you always check and check again. so I ended up with a head that was way too small, so 8” body here I come.
I’ve decided I am going to scrap the 12” body but keep the hands/feet which I will bake and hopefully use in the future. I have been pondering a lot on the detail for this piece but am still undecided on what the base should look like I am thinking a bow of some sorts to match the shoes..ummmm

Yishu News!! 14 August 2011
Wow another week has been and gone and its the weekend again!! My two projects Elena and Avenia are now finished and up for sale.
To view them please see my Yishu Site. So this leaves me free to complete another piece one which i have been wanting to create for a while is a pin up girl but there is soo many different styles so i am going to be doing some research and choose an era which i like the look of and go from there…
I have also decided to give the BJD a miss at the moment i had a very bad attempt at it and have decided i need to do a lot more research maybe buy a tut dvd! I was going to use carp swivels for the joints due to them being metal they would withstand constant movement. ummm still in the thinking stages!
I also have a little dwarf hamster which i am enjoying, he is called Mason first living thing i have had to look after other then a fish:)
He is super fast bless him just bought him a new wheel which he is loving.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!!, i would love to know what projects everyone else has on?:)

Yishu News!! 21 July 2011
I have decided to try and finish a few projects because they are building up and its quite sad to look at all these unfinished dolls laying around my desk. And i also want to be clear so that i can try and create my first BJD (Ball Jointed Doll) The main projects i am trying to complete are:
Avenia: the V syled doll
Medusa
Matthew the scarecrow
restructing a tiger ornament
two birthday ornaments.
I will keep you posted with my progress. I have a few ideas on how i will create the joints, due to me being heavy handed i keep breaking the joints so i will be trying to create a plastic/nylon joint stay tuned!

Yishu News!! 04 July 2011
Another week is upon us and the time is just zooming, i have thrown my self in the deep end and have a few projects on the go the first is Medusa she has been fully sculpted and stands about 15" tall i have spray painted her a green which i am waiting for it to dry before i continue to add more depth in her colour.
My Second piece is a V styled piece she is a alien with a beautiful side to tempt any man she too has also been fully sculpted with hand painted sculpted eyes.
My third piece is an enchanted princess who will be taking a bow, she is only in her rough stages and her basic body and head has been sculpted.
My last one isnt really sculpting but i am using a shop brought kit of the Titanic which i am putting together, which i am looking forward too.

Update 20/05/2011
Hello every body it is finally Friday I feel it has been a very long week, still catching up from all them bank holidays we have had.
This week has had a few ups and downs the ups I have finished my new piece Mitchell a Masquerade themed piece, which I am hoping to enter into the IADR comp. The down is 4 of my dolls were on display at flag fen but have come back due to change in management they were made in 09 and it was super to see them and how far I have come altho was a little disappointed that some of them were broken due to the travel.
Also this week I got the reply back from the new services IADR are doing where for FREE they Critique your work, it was a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to any one who is a member it was such an eye opener.
Please keep your eye out if you are on Facebook this evening for pics of Mitchell.
I hope you all have wonderful Weekends.

Yishu News!!
~Welcome~
I am soo looking forward to this long weekend, although I have a lot planned for it, still need to get up-to-date with all my Yishu Stuff, I have fallen behind a little:( Although the good new is that I am starting two new pieces over the holiday and they are a Harlequin Clown and a Masquerade Ball piece, to watch them being created please follow my WINP by clicking here and adding me to your favs What is everyone else up to this Easter weekend?
Latest Piece
Elena The Enchanted Princess, is my latest piece, she awaits on her balcony awaiting her true love, I had immense fun creating this one, through this sculpt I found that my passion is for cartoon pieces.
Elena is a 9” full bodied sculpt, she is sculpted from Puppen Fimo over a strong wire armature and baked at the manufactures’ instructions. NO moulds where used for her.
Her eyes have been created by me and coated to give them a glass like look, individually applied eyelashes, Her features have been coloured using a blend of chalk pastels, acrylic, genesis heat paints and spray paint which have all been varnished to protect,I have used viscose hair which has been sprayed and styled.
Her main outfit is made of silk and organza. Throughout her costume I have used wire, beads, elastic, gold/silver thread, gems, beads, cotton, lace, glitter. Her base is made from twisted wire and clay which has been painted and varnished.
Yishu’s on Sale
I have currently up listed 4 of my dolls for sale through different places to view or bid on them, please see the previous blog.
Found my Way
Last weekend after creating Elena it clicked that my style is cartoon, Although I can do animals and portraits and I have done a few I am more comfortable with cartoon and as it has recently been said its better to create something you like then, create something for the sake of it. So most of my creations will now be 9" full bodied cartoon dolls, I will also be making 16" soft bodied dolls.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope that you have a splendid weekend.
